Safety Videos
If your school has a Safety video, make sure you have your students watch it at the beginning of the course. If you
don’t have one, there are several that are accessible online. The McMaster University video found at http://www.chemistry.mcmaster.ca/labsafety/index.htm is very good. It is broken up into six segments and takes about 30 minutes
to complete.
Safety Quiz
It is also a good idea to have your students complete a safety test/quiz. Again there are several of these online if
your school board does not have one in place. The quiz found at http://daphne.palomar.edu/safetyquiz/safetyquiz.htm will allow the identification of the user and provides a score that can be printed
off for the teacher.

Safety Database
Through this web page you can access "student-friendly" safety data on chemicals. This set of web pages forms part
of Oxford University's contribution to the HSci project and is being developed to include most chemicals commonly found in school chemistry laboratories.
