"What do YOU want in a Lab Write-up?"

This is the question that you must be prepared to answer when the students are about to begin their first lab. Do you want a formal lab book the students must use for all labs or do you want your labs done on loose leaf paper? Do you want labs hand-written or typed? What do you want included in the report - purpose, materials, procedure, data, calculations, analysis, sources of error, conclusion?

In the past I have required a hard cover lab book for my Chemistry 12 students. I now leave this for the Profs at university who have lab markers and don't have to drag 50 lab book home on a regular basis. As for hand-written or typed, I usually allow the students to decide.
